











The Ayagama Pradeshiya Sabha Public Library was opened to the public on 17th February 2026, for the use of a larger group of readers, in a two-storey building near the Ayagama Sathipola in the heart of Ayagama town.
The opening was held on the initiative of the Chairman of Ayagama Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Aruna Upul Piyasena, at the invitation of the Vice Chairman and the members of the Council of Ministers, in the presence of the Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province, Mrs. Champa Janaki Rajaratne.
The Incumbent of Ayagama Gangaramaya, Venerable Rambukpotha Dhammadinna Nayaka Thero, Hon. Member of Parliament Dr. Janaka Senaratne, Hon. Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Vice-Chairman of Ayagama Pradeshiya Sabha and other members, Hon. Chairman of the Library and Documentation Services Board Ajith Kalyana, Assistant Commissioner of Ratnapura Local Government Janith Udayanga, Assistant Commissioner of Ratnapura Local Government (Departments) Gamini Weerasinghe, Heads of Ayagama State and Private Institutions and the Secretary of Ayagama Pradeshiya Sabha, along with staff officers and members of the Library Readers' Association, were present for this occasion.
On this occasion, the Hon. Governor participated in inspecting the Ayagama Pradeshiya Sabha Office, Ayagama Rangapeetha, Ayagama, Pallekada Mahadola and Ayagama Gangaramaya Temple, which have become tourist attractions in Ayagama town.
